I recently interviewed with this company, I was very interested in this position and was looking forward to the interview. The interview was scheduled to be 1 hour long, this expanded to almost 4 hours long, to me this indicated that they were interested. I felt the people I meet with had a lot in common from a development standpoint as well as a management standpoint, and I felt very confident that this position was a good match for me and the company. After waiting one week to hear some results, I decided to email and call the person who was in charge of Human Resources. Unfortunately, I did not hear back from them, to be honest it seemed that they were avoiding my calls and emails when requesting a simple answer.
This is rather upsetting for several reasons, I really wanted this job, and was stalling other offers in the hopes that Thatcher was interested and was going to at least call back and let me know the status of the interview. After all, I did dedicate a good portion of my day, as well as took a personal day off from my job to meet with this company. I assumed, like other interviews, that some notification would take place. I was left assuming that because they did not contact me that I was not going to be offered the position.
The first part of the interview was to take a test, this test was on Programing workflow, the issue I had with this is unless this is something that you used frequently you were not going to pass it, not to mention the time to complete it was only 35 minutes. As I have not used this out dated method of programming design, I was unable to fully complete the test and I suspect that this is why an offer was not extended. This is a shame as by using this as a measurement leaves many very qualified people on the table. There are better ways of finding good talent, this in my opinion is not one of them.
