I applied initially and learned there were no sales positions open. They offered a field position, but I wasn't interested. Toured the office and met the staff. Left with a positive impression.
Then a few months later, the regional operations manager called asking me to meet for lunch. Didn't offer any specifics on the phone, but I was curious.
Turns out the exact position, where I wanted to be too, had opened up. I felt it showed tremendous respect that they didn't just try to plug me in where they need someone but waited for the perfect fit to appear before calling me.
I got a quick 48 hour hand-off with the person I was replacing which was invaluable. Followed by two days with the PhD technical advisor who helped get me even further up to speed. It truly showed their commitment to our mutual success.
