I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at The Escape Game (Chicago, IL) in Nov 2025
Interview
I interviewed for a seasonal position in Chicago. I declined the offer in part because of the disfunctional interview experience and general bad impression of work environment.
(1) I apply online, straightforward.
(2) After hearing nothing for a week I make a follow up call to learn they had texted me for a phone interview but had contacted the wrong number. I am scheduled for a phone interview.
(3) The phone interview takes 5 minutes they just ask me why I want to work there etc. They schedule me for an in person interview.
(4) I go to the in person interview and no one is there, after calling again I am told that the manager is out sick and no one had told me. They apologize profusely and tell me I’m rescheduled for the next day.
(5) I return the next morning and have a 20 minute interview with the manager in their office. The questions are simple behavioral questions and similar to the phone interview. They show me a 5 minute training video as part of the interview, then schedule me with the regional manager. There is no interaction with other staff or a quick walk around of the space I’m just back out on the street.
(6) The regional manager declines our virtual interview 5 minutes before our scheduled start time with no note. I contact him again to reschedule.
(7) When we do have the interview he asks essentially the same questions as the site manager, then asks me what my pay expectations are before telling me it’s a minimum wage job with no stable hours.
(8) I get an offer and decide to decline after thinking about it for a day, they never respond.

You usually go through a phone screening, interview with a manager and then a final interview with a region leader. It’s not super lengthy if they are hiring quickly, but you talk to a lot of people
