      Patient Experience Coach Interview

      Oct 4, 2024
      Anonymous Interview Candidate
      Sayre, PA
      Declined offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 4 months. I interviewed at The Guthrie Clinic (Sayre, PA) in Aug 2024

      Interview

I applied for a position with Guthrie in June and went through a long and chaotic interview process that ultimately ended with a rescinded job offer. Here’s a detailed account of my experience: Interview Process: -I was contacted for an interview two months after my application, which was encouraging. However, the initial on-site interview turned into a virtual one, which felt disorganized. During the interview, one of the panelists didn’t even turn on their camera. -After several interviews—including an unexpected extra round with upper management—I received positive feedback and was led to believe I was a strong candidate for the role. However, during the process, I was informed that the position was moving from Sayre to Corning, NY, which extended my commute significantly. Additionally, I learned they were hiring for similar roles in different locations, which made the initial position feel less unique. Offer Details: -When I finally received an offer, it was at the median of the salary range, which felt insufficient given my extensive qualifications (dual MBAs, a pharmacy degree, and numerous project management certifications). Their lack of transparency regarding salary ranges was concerning, especially since Pennsylvania law does not require posting salary ranges, and they did not update it when changing the location to New York. -I attempted to negotiate for better compensation and benefits, including relocation assistance and additional PTO, but most of my requests were rejected. Ultimately, they only increased the offer by $4 per hour. Final Decision: -After being asked to make a decision quickly, I communicated my need for more time, especially since I was weighing other job offers. However, they insisted on a decision by the end of the week. -After several days of unanswered calls and emails, the HR team rescinded my offer, citing an inability to come to an agreement on salary and benefits. This decision came after I had already begun seeking other employment due to the long wait for an offer and the overall chaotic nature of the process. Overall Impression: While I had high hopes for this position, the entire experience was marred by disorganization, poor communication, and inadequate benefits. Their annual raise is only 2%, which doesn’t keep up with inflation, and their benefits package is subpar compared to industry standards. I advise potential candidates to proceed with caution when considering opportunities at Guthrie. My experience suggests that their hiring process lacks structure and can lead to frustration. I was relieved to have the offer rescinded, as it ultimately felt like a blessing in disguise. Pros: -Potential for interesting work (if the process was smoother) -Opportunity for growth in a newly expanding department Cons: -Disorganized interview process -Lack of transparency regarding salary and benefits -Poor communication from HR -Subpar benefits and raises
