I was pretty excited when Hershey called me back after I applied for one of their retail sales rep positions. First I had a phone interview with HR that lasted for about 10-15 minutes. The interview was standard (run me through your resume) and contained the details of the job (salary, benefits, hours, overtime etc). A couple of weeks later I received an e-mail saying that I was qualified for the next step of the interview, which would be held about a month after my first interview, once again over the phone, but this time with a district manger. I was told that the interview would be in STAR format and that I should have my responses in this format. This interview also went well and was pretty standard (tell me about a time when...) About a week and a half later I went out on a shadowing day with a local rsr to see what I would be doing. I had the opportunity to ask questions, interact with store managers, and really had a great time with my rsr. A few weeks later, the company asked if I could fly out to Arkansas to meet with 2 district managers, a director for retail area sales, and an hr manager. This was a panel interview with each person asking more "tell me about a time questions," once again in STAR format. After the interview, I left pretty confident that everything went well. Three days later I received another e-mail from hr stating that they had heard my interview went well and wanted to know if there were any other locations that I would be interested in as an rsr (I stated throughout the interview process that I had no problem relocating). I got back to her with my responses. Unfortunately, I never heard back was extremely disappointed, since I felt that everything went really well, especially after receiving such a positive e-mail. I have since followed up twice with the company, once with hr and once with one of my interviewees and have still heard nothing back. It is a shame that, at the very least, the company cannot provide to me an explanation or even a rejection letter of why everything didn't work out. The whole entire process that I just described lasted about 2 and a half months (I got to the 4th step of 2 other interviews with 2 other companies in a matter of just a few weeks, which also included me flying somewhere). Although everyone I met and interacted with was extremely friendly, I feel as though it is very unprofessional of the company to be so disorganized and have such a disregard for applicants. I can only hope that this same thing does not happen to future applicants.
