      Production Supervisor Interview

      Nov 21, 2013
      Anonymous employee
      Hershey, PA
      Accepted offer
      Positive experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at The Hershey Company (Hershey, PA) in Nov 2013

      Interview

Just a few days after submitting my resume I received a call to schedule a phone interview for the following Friday. The interview consisted of four Business Unit Managers, one of which I would report too, and an HR person. The interview lasted about 30 min with the majority of questions being in the STAR format. A little over a week after the phone interview (Monday) I received a call requesting to schedule an interview in Hershey the following Wednesday. I thought that was rather short notice given that I had to drive six hours to get there, but I accepted the schedule as requested. The agenda was for two, one hour interviews with two Managers each. At the end of the second interview I was asked if I would like a tour of the plant, I accepted. The unscheduled tour lasted between 30-45 min, upon returning to the admin area my Tour Guide stepped into an office to let someone know that we had returned, this person turned out to be the HR Manager whom I over heard state “tell him to wait, I would like to talk to him”. This unscheduled third meeting/interview turned out to be with the HR Manager and the Plant Manager. When leaving I felt I had the position and would receive an offer. It is my belief that the tour serves two functions 1) If you decline the tour do you really want the job do they need to proceed? and 2) It give the Management Team a chance to talk and decide if you get a final interview with the HR and Plant Managers.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

There was no one question that was difficult or unexpected because of my research of common interview question, not because I’m that smart I put a lot of work into the interview prep’s. However, if you are not a good story teller and/or quick on your feet while under pressure you will have difficulty with the STAR format.

I applied online. The process took 5 weeks. I interviewed at The Hershey Company (New York, NY) in Sep 2021

      Interview

Drawn out process and long interview for a pretty basic supervisor position. Never had a concrete answer for salary or shift I was interviewing for. Also, was not made aware of that ahead of time. HR from corporate and HR at the plant do not seem to be on the same page. They were late to even come get me from the lobby after I was there early for said interview. Even with an offer I am not sure I would have accepted. Lot of negative reviews from people who work there.

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. I interviewed at The Hershey Company (Hershey, PA) in Aug 2013

      Interview

Veteran Experience Contacted by a recruiter about a Production Supervisor position in Hershey, PA, initially having not applied to the position, I was asked to apply for this specefic announcement. I conducted 2 phone interviews and was asked to do an on site at the East Hershey facility. Conducted the on site interview with the HR Director and Plant Manager and completed a tour of the facility. Upon completion, I was told to expect a response back within a week or so. 2 weeks later, I was contacted by the recruiter and told I would have to start the process over because the proper steps were not taken with my application and interviews. I conducted a redundant phone interview and told I'd hear back in 1-2 weeks. A month later, I emailed the recruiter and was told she would let me know when she hears something. This was 11 months ago, I have never been told, in any capacity, they were moving on with a different candidate or anything. Having interviewed 3 times and conducting an on site, at my expense with travel from TN, the least I would expect is a curtosy email. The experenince left me with an impression that Hershey is a mismanaged giant, atleast with talent acquisition and HR, of a company with little regard to its employees, candidates and hiring policies/procedures. In addition, having been a commissioned Army Officer of over 10 years with a graduate degree, The Hershey Company is unable and/or incapable of translating military exeperince in any capacity. Their proclamation of being Veteran friendly is misleading unless you are a former Junior service member with 3-5 years of experience, looking for an entry level position. Senior members are blaintly undervalued for their experience, education and knowledge and in turn are pigeon holed into entry level positions with little apparent advancement.
