They lied about the salary, and I went through the whole process in vain. After I completed all the stages, Andrea called me and said they had hired other engineers for less than my expected salary, and she tried to persuade me to accept a lower amount. After I said I wanted the salary we had originally agreed on, I received a standard rejection email.
Interview process:
1- HR: Andrea was always friendly and called me back after every stage, but she didn’t call to provide proper feedback when I was rejected.
2- Engineering Manager - experience deep dive: Overall, it was a nice interview. There were questions about my background, projects, and technologies.
3-Take-home assessment: SQL + Python.
4-Review of the assessment + technical interview with two Engineering Managers: One manager was smoking and repeatedly turning the camera on and off. There were a lot of questions, and the interview lasted more than an hour. When I finally had time to ask questions, one of the managers said to the other, “Answer this question because I’ve answered too many already,” which came across as rude and clearly showed a lack of motivation to answer what I was asking.
5- Director of Data: Super friendly and probably the nicest person I interviewed with.
