I applied online. I interviewed at The Motley Fool in Oct 2020
Interview
In early September, I saw the listing pop up and through a mutual connection was able to connect with the recruiter working on the opening. We promptly had an introductory call, and she expressed interest for me to set up an interview with the hiring manager but asked me to formally apply for the position first. She also told me that they really like cover letters, and I should include one with the application and let her know when everything was submitted. It took me several days to write the cover letter. When I went to apply, the listing was gone. I reached out to the recruiter, and she quickly replied saying she had deleted it by accident. No problem. I applied once the listing was back up, and let her know. I didn't get a response so I followed up after about a week. Nothing. Another week and I followed up again and finally got a response that someone would be reaching out to schedule an interview with the hiring manager. I had the interview the next week, and it seemed to go pretty well. I sent a follow up thank you note the next day to the recruiter and asked her to forward on to the hiring manager. No response. I followed up a week later and got a message back that she had forwarded the note and I would hear back in about a week on next steps. Two weeks went by, so I followed up. Nothing. Two more weeks, and I followed up again. Nothing. Throughout the whole process, I'd be ok if things were taking longer than they expected, if they had just communicated that to me, but they haven't. For a company that I've heard so many great things about and that prides itself on how it treats its employees, it certainly hasn't with a prospective employee. I'm not upset if I don't/didn't get the job (I still haven't been told no), I just want to know either way. I hope that maybe TMF will read this review and work to improve their interviewing process.
