I applied originally using LinkedIn EasyApply, which submits your profile and resume. Some courtney in HR reached out to say she was impressed with my experience and invited me to "apply" through the company's website. I do so. After a week I check in for the status of my application via the website and see that I'm no longer under consideration. Supposedly she was impressed with my experience, and there was literally no difference in my experience in the two submission methods. I'm guessing this was just a case of modern-HRism where the HR person says to themselves, I just don't feel we've wasted enough of this candidate's time before never getting back to them, so I'm going to request that they do more to complete their eventually fruitless application.
