If you're not a female under 40 you need not apply. This company openly practices age discrimination. March 2021, two very brief phone interviews followed by a 3-hour competency exam at their offices. After passing the exam there was a 45-minute video interview. In December 2017 I was also interviewed by The Real Real in their NY City office for 1 hour.

Interview
HR representative connects you with various TRR staff in the role for which you are applying. Based on those conversations you may or may not be recommended to move forward with process. The final interview is a 3 hour test of your knowledge which includes gemological testing, estate evaluation, and authenticating of fine jewelry and watches.

Question 1
It was hardly an interview. She didn't ask me any questions and spoke with such economy of language as to be rude. She sat in her chair with a very smug expression. I tried to engage conversational about the trade, and gemology. Top tip: If you're over 40 be prepared for some agist bias. The glimpse the interviewer afforded me for the moments I spent with her were clues into the culture there.
