I applied to this position, and was excited to receive an interview request about 2-3 weeks later.
I met with the recruiter, interview went great and got an offer to move onto the next round.
After that, I met with the Director, whom would be the roles direct manager, and we had a great conversation about what the role entailed and what the team really needs from someone in this role. She had even said she enjoyed our conversation and hoped to talk with me again soon. Also, that she would relay feedback to the recruiter and I would hear back from her when she was back from vacation within the next 2-3 days.
TL;DR: I didn't hear back from the recruiter for 2.5 weeks following that second interview, after having followed up with her twice and thinking that they just ghosted me. I wasn't surprised to hear that they had decided to not move forward with my candidacy once I finally did hear back. Kindly enough, she offered to schedule time to give me feedback. Even though it took her a while to relay their decision, I truly always appreciate feedback because, let's be honest, the job market nowadays is really, really tough. So, I let her know when I was available. Unfortunately, I got ghosted and never got feedback as to why they didn't believe I was a fit.
This made me really bummed because I really am a longtime fan of the company, and working there would have been a dream. Even though this role's particular skillset was something I was very well versed in with 6 years of past experience, I know experience is not always easily translated through interviews so I really wish I could have gotten that feedback.
All this to say, I encourage future recruiters here to do better than ghosting candidates who take time to apply to these roles that they are genuinely excited about. The job market is hard on us all right now, and we are more than just our resumes–we are human beings too and we are genuinely interested in working with you if we are applying. At least do us the decency of a response, whether it be positive or negative feedback, it goes a long way.
