The process included a recruiter call, hiring manager call, take home assignment and a presentation. It felt like they were trying to rush through the process, immediately scheduling after each interview round. The take home assignment was stated it would take no more than 2 hours, but the ask was unreasonable. They wanted an incredibly detailed project plan and a presentation deck on a real project they were working on (red flag). They had very specific bullet points and graphics of what they wanted to see in each assignment. Therefore, the project really took more so around 6-8 hours. It felt a bit scummy to ask for such specific things on a large, real issue they faced, almost like wanting to take other people’s work because they gave an example of how they initially failed to approach the project (red flag).
After the project was submitted, I was informed it looked great and they’ll reach out. A few days later, the role was put on pause.
I’m hoping more people will start to refuse lengthy take home projects! Aside from the take home assignment, the interview process was rather easy.
