It took 3 months for them to finish the interview/hiring process at the North Rutherford location in TN. When I noted the long time period, they stated it always takes this long, but as a former employee at another location in which i was interviewed and hired within the span of a week, I knew they were simply lying to me. The interview and hiring process at the smyrna, North Rutherford Family YMCA location was incredibly unprofessional and time consuming. I would have scheduled meetings that would show up 10-15 minutes late, it would take days to get replies if I even received one, and I was nearly always sent to voicemail (once while I was sitting outside there office watching them, as they were late for a meeting playing a game on their mobile phone).
Group Interview, very simple personality questions. Were interested in extracurriculars and swimming experience. The Swim Instructors were interviewed us along with the life guards. They were very kind people at the YMCA

Interview
One simple in-person interview with the aquatics director. It was very casual, she asked me general questions regarding my experience with the YMCA and with swimming in general. She also asked if I would be interested in working as a Lifeguard at the same time, which would require additional training.

Interview
Group interview. Arrived with maybe 20 other individuals and got divided into table groups. Brief introductory of oneself: "Hi my name is [ ], I'm a [role] at [organisation], I'm interested in the swimming teacher role today. I have 5 years experience in competitive training and so think I would be an excellent candidate for the job, I also love working with kids of course!" etc.
In table groups, we worked through scenarios-- see question section for scenarios. One (or multiple) people present on behalf of the group.
Overall, they assess how well you work in your group, amiability, character traits, quality of answers. No individual interview questions were asked.
I got accepted. They do a Police Check and ask for two references to be completed through XREF. I declined the offer for another company.

You yell at some children for divebombing into the pool, then a parent divebombs and you ask him politely to get out. He is angry that you treat the kids differently to him, asks to speak to supervisor. What do you do, how to prevent this next time?
