I had a mixed and ultimately disappointing interview experience with this company. Both hiring managers on the panel arrived 10 minutes late without acknowledgment or a proper introduction, which immediately set an unprofessional tone. Of the two, one was structured, clear in communication, and demonstrated professionalism. The other, however, lacked a coherent pitch, struggled to hold a meaningful conversation, and did not create space for a two-way discussion—particularly around how product management practices can vary across organizations.
Despite my openness about areas I was confident in and those I was still growing in, this manager chose to laugh at one of my responses—a moment that felt unnecessarily dismissive and unprofessional. It left me questioning not just his judgment, but his maturity as someone responsible for evaluating candidates.
Initially, I had applied for one Product Manager role, but after my first round, the recruiter mentioned I was being moved to a different PM role because the hiring managers felt I was an ideal fit. However, the second round felt more aligned with expectations of a Senior Product Manager, while the compensation offered (~$120,000/year) reflected a mid-level PM role. There also appeared to be a lack of alignment in how the company positions its roles internally versus how they are presented to candidates.
Overall, the experience raised concerns about the company's interview etiquette, role clarity, and openness to diverse professional experiences in the product space. These are fundamental to attracting strong talent and fostering a respectful candidate experience.
