I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at TikTok in Oct 2023
Interview
Three rounds, the first round is I would describe as a leetcode easy. It wasn't even an algos question, just making sure you know how to read some text and write some code with it. Second round was a SRE technical round, there aren't really any difficult questions you would need to prepare for here, and the final round was some scenarios based questioning, an SQL type question, and then we had about 15 minutes left for a systems design. I asked my interviewers for feedback throughout the process and it all seemed positive, so I really don't have a clue why I was rejected. No follow up call back for feedback either.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
First round was just basically leetcode easy As far as i remember for second round: - what is sre and what are its core principles - what's the difference between DevOps and Sre - what is error budget - how do you ensure high availability and reliability for a distributed system For third round, I can remember a bit more - talk about a time where you had to deal with a huge problem in sre - an easy SQL question - a system design question on designing a backed of a video sharing application
The interview process varies by teams. But in general have coding round, system design, networking round and a live prod troubleshooting rounds. The whole process is divided in 4-5 rounds.

Interview
initially recruiter reached out and two rounds were schedules, the interview consisted of two rounds one was leetcode style medium level question and devops/linux rounds. there was one more round after this mostly the behavioral round
The interview consisted of several stages. First, the interviewer asked questions about my resume, including past projects, technical skills, and previous work experience. Then I solved a few medium-level LeetCode-style coding problems that focused on data structures and algorithms. I was also given troubleshooting scenarios to test my debugging and problem-solving skills, where I had to explain how I would identify and fix technical issues step by step. The interviewer also asked follow-up questions about my approach and reasoning.
