I applied online. The process took 8 weeks. I interviewed at Tillamook County Creamery Association (Portland, OR) in Mar 2021
Interview
The interview process at Tillamook ended up being a lengthy waste of my time. What could have been a standard two-week interview process ended up being an eight-week long ghosting session.
I have described my experience below with the hope that it can help somebody navigate through the Tillamook interview process better than I did.
-----
INTERVIEW 1:
Phone interview with HR manager. Basic interview screening questions. HR manager seemed interested in my skill set and told me I would be hearing from them soon to schedule another interview with the position supervisor.
(Three weeks later I finally heard back to schedule my second interview.)
-----
INTERVIEW 2:
Online virtual interview with position supervisor. Interview went very well and they seemed excited at the possibility of bringing me on the team. Very assuring and communicative that I was the right person for the job. They ended the interview by saying everything was looking really, really good and I would hear back from them soon about scheduling my final in-person interview.
(Four weeks later I finally heard back and scheduled my final in-person interview. The interview process timeline now at seven weeks.)
-----
INTERVIEW 3:
Final in-person interview at their Portland campus. The day consisted of six separate 45-minute interviews with the HR manager, three non-marketing department heads, one marketing lead and the position supervisor (five hours total).
All non-marketing department heads seemed detached and removed. Their questions felt forced and generic (“What is your favorite Tillamook food?”, “What do you like about Portland?”, “What do you do in your free time?” etc.) I do not think they held any actual stake in the hiring of the position.
In the main interview with the position supervisor, I was (like the previous interview) continually assured and communicated that I would be a great fit and who they were looking for in the position. The interview ended with the supervisor affirming I would be hearing from them soon with a formal job offer.
-----
POST INTERVIEW:
My final interview was the last I heard from anyone within the company.
I did not receive any position updates. I did not get a formal rejection letter. No "we have decided to go another way". No "thank you for your time". No reason why the “formal job offer” never came.
Absolutely nothing.
Ghosted.
When I tried to reach out to the company, I received zero response from the position supervisor, any department heads or the HR manager. Completely shut out of the process.
