I applied online. The process took 1+ week. I interviewed at Tillys (Huntington Station, NY) in Oct 2016
Interview
My interview was at 3:30 so I got there at around 3:10 but the manager was on break so I had to wait. I had a group of 2 other people and another person was supposed to be there but they were too late so we started without them. The manager started by asking us icebreaker questions(like our hobbies, who we look up to) and then transitioned onto general interview questions. At the end of the questions we each had to make an outfit from the clothes in the store in five minutes for a guy that was going to a concert and a date and base our outfit off his style, explaining why we chose the outfit. In the end, we all ended up getting hired. Some tips are to have good energy, always try to answer the questions first, and don't be nervous!
It was held as a group interview, fairly easy. The hardest part was the sales pitch for an item in the store. Everyone in the group answered the same questions one at a time. There were around 6-8 people in each group.
Super calm and friendly! Felt like such a nice conversation and felt like I was part of the team already, they really listened to me. I felt like they wanted me to succeed and I did!
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
If an item isn’t selling, how would you ensure it did?
Occurred in a group setting. I always recommend being very respectful, do not speak over others, but when you can add after another interviewees turn, try to include your own response.
