I applied in-person. I interviewed at Tillys (Carlsbad, CA) in Oct 2015
Interview
Most interviews at Tilly's are apparently in group form, however when I showed up for my interview it was one on one with one of the Assistant Managers which I definitely prefer. She suggested we do the interview outside where there is fresh air and less noise. Overall, I enjoyed the interview because of it not being in the stock room and because the Assistant Manager that interviewed me was very friendly and easy to engage with. Most of the questions were the standard type interview questions you would expect with a retail position with the exception of a few unique ones that I particularly enjoyed. After the questioning portion, we went back inside Tilly's where I was asked to put an outfit together using items in the store that matched a certain piece of clothing/accessory that they provided to me where I would then try to "sell" the outfit to two of the Assistant Managers on why they should buy it.
It was held as a group interview, fairly easy. The hardest part was the sales pitch for an item in the store. Everyone in the group answered the same questions one at a time. There were around 6-8 people in each group.
Super calm and friendly! Felt like such a nice conversation and felt like I was part of the team already, they really listened to me. I felt like they wanted me to succeed and I did!

Question 1
If an item isn’t selling, how would you ensure it did?
Occurred in a group setting. I always recommend being very respectful, do not speak over others, but when you can add after another interviewees turn, try to include your own response.
