I applied online. The process took 5 days. I interviewed at Tillys (Glendale, AZ) in Oct 2012
Interview
I had a group interview with about 10-12 other people. We all sat in a circle as the hiring manager asked us questions, and we all went in order. Most of the questions had literally nothing to do with the job itself. It was a little baffling, but my guess is that they did it to try and get to know the personalities of the people being interviewed. I also guessed that if we got a call for a second interview, that would be the time they asked more job related questions. I did get a call back, but it wasn't about a second interview. They offered me the position and I took it.

Question 1
The hiring manager didn't ask many job related questions. The only one I can recall is "What does customer service mean to you?". The rest of the questions were questions like "If you could be any animal, what would you be and why?", and "What is your favorite memory?". The interview reminded me of when I was in 2nd grade and my teacher would have a question on the board that us students would get 15 minutes to reply to in our journals every morning.
It was held as a group interview, fairly easy. The hardest part was the sales pitch for an item in the store. Everyone in the group answered the same questions one at a time. There were around 6-8 people in each group.
Super calm and friendly! Felt like such a nice conversation and felt like I was part of the team already, they really listened to me. I felt like they wanted me to succeed and I did!

Question 1
If an item isn’t selling, how would you ensure it did?
Occurred in a group setting. I always recommend being very respectful, do not speak over others, but when you can add after another interviewees turn, try to include your own response.
