I applied in-person. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at Tillys in Nov 2014
Interview
It was a group interview with 7 people. We were pulled into the back room. A lot of the people were wearing t-shirts and jeans. I felt almost over dressed. The interviewers were very friendly, and had an icebreaker question, which was "If you were an animal, what would you be." The whole process was overall very laid back, it felt like a casual conversation. The interviewers were the assistant manager and the store manager. The store manager asked the questions, while the assistant manager wrote down notes. After the questions, they grouped us into two's and we were to design an outfit based on the gender we were assigned. You have to make an effort to stand out, as some people remained silent, and didn't attempt to answer any questions. They said we would hear from them by next week.
It was held as a group interview, fairly easy. The hardest part was the sales pitch for an item in the store. Everyone in the group answered the same questions one at a time. There were around 6-8 people in each group.
Super calm and friendly! Felt like such a nice conversation and felt like I was part of the team already, they really listened to me. I felt like they wanted me to succeed and I did!

Question 1
If an item isn’t selling, how would you ensure it did?
Occurred in a group setting. I always recommend being very respectful, do not speak over others, but when you can add after another interviewees turn, try to include your own response.
