I applied in-person. The process took 3 days. I interviewed at Tillys (Minneapolis, MN) in Jun 2014
Interview
I didn't get put into a group interview because I actually knew the hiring manager from a former job. I got asked a few questions and then had to put together an outfit for an outside music concert/festival where it would be sunny and hot out. You basically just go around the store and pick out clothes that you would go with the situation described that would be the most fashionable, practical, and seems to match their sense of style. They ask a lot of non-interview-y type questions to gauge your personality. This is mainly because Tilly's is really big on creating a chill atmosphere and good customer experience that feels like your just hanging out/shopping with friends.
It was held as a group interview, fairly easy. The hardest part was the sales pitch for an item in the store. Everyone in the group answered the same questions one at a time. There were around 6-8 people in each group.
Super calm and friendly! Felt like such a nice conversation and felt like I was part of the team already, they really listened to me. I felt like they wanted me to succeed and I did!

Question 1
If an item isn’t selling, how would you ensure it did?
Occurred in a group setting. I always recommend being very respectful, do not speak over others, but when you can add after another interviewees turn, try to include your own response.
