I applied in-person. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Tillys (Valencia, CA) in May 2011
Interview
The interview process was a group interview and it was my very first time participating in one of them. 10-13 other teenagers were in my group interview and they were all dressed casual; as in jeans and a t-shirt. However, I was the only one who came dressed in business professional and I was pretty embarrassed.
They lined us all up against a wall outside the store and the manager introduced himself and another sales associate before they began asking the group questions.
How it would work was the manager or sales associate would ask a question to the group and a person in the group would raise their hand if they wanted to answer.
If you would like to be hired, I suggest you make sure you answer everything and leave a strong impression. Make sure they'll remember you at the end of the group interview.
The group interview probably took less than 15 minutes.
It was held as a group interview, fairly easy. The hardest part was the sales pitch for an item in the store. Everyone in the group answered the same questions one at a time. There were around 6-8 people in each group.
Super calm and friendly! Felt like such a nice conversation and felt like I was part of the team already, they really listened to me. I felt like they wanted me to succeed and I did!

Question 1
If an item isn’t selling, how would you ensure it did?
Occurred in a group setting. I always recommend being very respectful, do not speak over others, but when you can add after another interviewees turn, try to include your own response.
