I had 2 rounds of interviews by 4 interviewees for each (HR, HOD & 2 hiring managers). Initially,I had been asked by the general interview questions such as self-introduction, personal SWOT, leadership experience, challenges that faced before and background check. As a freshmen applicant, you need to expect interviewers may ask you the reasons of joining Toshiba, your expectation from the position that you apply and how well you know about the company. However, interviews are very depending on the interview standard of hiring managers. As far as I know, my colleagues' interviews could be even easier. There were never been interviewed by 4 interviewers (generally 2 to 3 interviewers), never been asked by the situational interview questions and never given the on-the-scene assessment (probably it's an additional random test to me). Generally, those hiring managers are easy and friendly. You do not need to worry so much but you better be ready when you join this highly diversified cultural working environment. 2 weeks later, HR offered me a permanent job only after I gave them a follow-up call. Prior to that, they requested me to call them when I had other company offer. Based on my experience and observation in the company after I joint, you hardly expect to see a professional hiring process by Toshiba HR in Malaysia because they always take their own pace to complete their own tasks and complete the management approval. Perhaps it might be the overall general working norms in Malaysia. One thing I feel appreciate is employee benefit system (bonus, annual leaves and medical benefit) in Toshiba for freshmen is above average than general market standards. But, as I mentioned above, you need to accustom with the working culture here where the spirit of team work, tolerance, understanding, and productivity among general staffs may below average standard requirement. Double efforts you may need to pay to perform a simple task. Most importantly, your succeed may not pay off and it never align with with employee promotion than it should be due to seniority evaluation system and hidden rules. Anyway, it is still a friendly working environment that you would appreciate as a freshman.
