      Application

I applied through an employee referral. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at ToutApp (San Francisco, CA) in May 2015

      Interview

The hiring process was fluid and quick. The interview process seemed to focus on three major factors drive, fit, and ability. The first steps involved a brief conversation over the phone with the recruiter. From here I had a panel interview which consisted of members from the team. The final steps of the interview involved meeting with the manager, the VP of success, and finally CEO.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

The interview questions focused on: how to deal with difficult customers; explaining the troubleshooting process; how to deal with escalations; why ToutApp; and finally a little about my personal interests.

      Interview

I was referred to by an external recruiter who then referred me to the internal recruiter at ToutApp. The phone screen was by Brooke, who by the way was really nice and open. She asked your typical phone screen questions (what do you know, why us, what are you doing, etc). She also followed up when she said and was very responsive via email. Next came the in person interview. I Bart'd down to the Embarcadero, crossed the street and I was there. I went through the front of the building and the security was relaxed. As I exited the elevator, I could hear music coming in from the front entrance. This is definitely not your typical office music but it represented a more relaxed feel. I walked in, sat down and was then asked by an employee if I needed help. I let him know I was here for an interview. He directed me to sign in and a few short minutes later, Brooke introduced herself and walked me to the interview room. BOOM: here comes the interviewers! I didn't know it would be a group interview, which surprised me but I still felt comfortable. Two people interviewed me first for about 30 minutes, followed by another pair for another 30 minutes. It was a mix of questions and felt like they were feeling me out (verbally, not physically!). The vibe coming from everyone felt really good. After the interviews, I went home happy and confident. The next day or two, I received a call/email (can't remember) about a second interview. The second interview came and I interviewed with the Manager and the VP of the department. Both were pleasant and were very real/down to earth about the role and company. We went through very similar questions that the previous pairs had asked me. I answered truthfully and opened up to them. To add, we actually had more of a conversation than interview. I felt it went well and left happy knowing that if I didn't receive an offer, it was a great experience and this is the feel of a company I should look for when looking for new opportunities. Brooke followed up with me the next day to see how it went. The Manager also asked me to take a quiz for them via email the same day. I submitted it a few hours later and then a few days later, I was offered the position by the Manager.
