I applied online on a Sunday and got a call about coming in for a group interview 6 days later, on Saturday. It was scheduled for 9:30 am that Monday. I arrived at about 9:15 and was asked to walk around the store until 9:30 when they called us to the front. The interviewer later told us he was observing us to see what section we would go towards, so be mindful of this. After that, we went to a back room where the interviewer was waiting. He asked us, the group was 3 other people, not bad at all, to say our name and if we had retail experience, which I did not. Everyone else did, so I was a little wary, but he later said since it's Toys R Us, everyone has some experience with toys, so that's not automatically a bad thing. Then we had to pick from a table of toys and study it for a few minutes, then present it like we were experts on that toy and were selling it to him. The two things to definitely mention are AGE the toy is for and BATTERIES. I mentioned batteries and I think it helped a lot in my favor. Toy's R Us makes a good amount of money from batteries. Then we had to interview each other, we were paired up, and ask questions we think the interviewer would ask, then sell the person. Obviously you want to make sure you're positive about the person, and play up things you know are good, like if they have retail experience, why do they want to work at toys r us, etc. After selling the person, the interviewer briefed us about the company, expectations about the position and mentioned it was a seasonal position but it could become permanent. He wrapped it up and asked to speak to each person individually, where we were or weren't offered the job. He asked if I had any questions and then offered me the position!
