Handed in CV & application form and received a phone call several days later. Scheduled group interview arranged for a few days after.
Group of 8 people in the common room. First exercise was to write down facts about the person next to you and tell the rest of the group about that person. Secondly a debate was held; topics were 'Is the X Factor good for the music industry' and 'Should cyclists be allowed on the road'. Around 5 mins to jot down ideas with the rest of your group then you had to debate against the other team. After that the interviewer had 10 numbers with topics, each candidate chose a number and had 1 minute to talk about the chosen topic; topics included Christmas, football, holidays, animals, cars etc. Finally the toy presentation was held, each candidate chose a toy from the box and had to present it in front of the rest of the group, the interviewer and the manager.
After the interviewer and manager went away to discuss, when they came back they told 3 people they had enough information and wanted to ask more questions to the 5 left (including myself). One by one, someone went into the room and my questions included hours, other hobbies, availability etc. They told me I had been successful and wanted me in for the second stage of the interview - working on the shop floor for several hours at the weekend.
