It was exactly what i expected, well, actually a little easier. With aspects of other interviews from reviews i saw here. Like, well first I filled out like 13 job applications for several toys r us and babies r us stores and for several positions in one day. after filling them all out i already got like 2 rejection emails. but then like 4 days later im taking a shower and then i get a phone call from babies r us and they schedule me for a group interview for the following day. i go to the interview and im totally dressed up nice and babies r us themed (khakis, yellow button up shirt, purple tie) because thats what i thought they would wear cause the store colors. anyways, i get there and go to the baby registration place where im told ill meet with other people for the interview. there was 7 people including myself all together in this group. all were wearing seriously like really just all black. like nice clothes, but nothing but black. except one old lady who wore like burgundy. so i was pretty much the most colorful person there already. then when the time came, the assistant manager took us back to a room. now, the interview. first part, introductions. we did the thing with the toilet paper sheets like in other reviews. i totally expected it. haha. everyone passes around a roll of toilet paper and tears off as much toilet paper as they want. everybody got like 3-5 pieces, but since i knew what was up, i got like 15. and then after everyone gets their TP, they have to say something interesting about themself for each square of toilet paper they got. so i totally said a lot. then the manager came in the room and since he missed the toilet paper part, so he asked us our names and 1 interesting thing about ourselves. everyone said something they mentioned in the toilet paper thing, i said something new and everyone totally liked that i did. second part, something involving building a toy. i read about people building with legos together or knex or putting together a puzzle. my group of 4 got a puzzle. as did the group of 3. they were these funky sphere puzzles. at first not a lot of people wanted to talk in the process, but thats the point of it, communication. at the end of it, the manager and assistant manager asked us how we came to get as far as we did with our puzzles. the group of 3 finished theirs, my group didnt. what i did, and told the managers, was that i of course talked with everyone and asked for any pieces i needed, but i also kept an eye on everybodys sections of the puzzle they were working on in case i had a piece on me or saw a piece that they could use. next part, sales skills. we were given scenario cards, with a title of what type of job or area in the store, and then a scenario. like job as a cashier or sales person or a baby registry person or a specialist in a certain area of the store, and in the scenario we have to provide good enough customer service that the customer actor(s) (managers) would agree to buy whatever we had. my card was infant care person. and my scenario was to describe a baby monitor to a person and sell them the stores buyer protection policy. the managers will give you a prop(item from the store) as the product and like a pamphlet of the seconds thing you gotta sell like the buyer protection policy or a credit card and then you have like 5 minutes to study the product and the credit card or warranty thing. nobody else in the interview convinced the managers to buy anything, except me. READ YOUR PAMPHLET AND STUDY YOUR PRODUCT CAREFULLY. like, it comes in handy so much if you do so. like half the people who did their presentations didnt know anything about what they were selling, i even wanted to come up and describe things and do more effective things. i was commented on too about my performance, pretty much said as the best one of them all. so that felt really nice. now, we were given small pieces of paper and had to write 5 words that describe us. they specifically said dont put "hard worker", cause its cheesy. and after we wrote our words we had to step outside and get called one at a time for our 1 on 1 interviews. one guy when he was done walked out all upset, he said they didnt like his having tattoos on his arms. so if you have sleeves or hecka visible tattoos, i dont think you should bother. its a baby store. anyways, i was last to be called in. they told me to tell them my words. i told them. they then asked me about my work history and availability. and then they asked "why babies r us" and well, i dont wanna spoil it. im not gonna give my answer, it should be unique from each applicant. I just want to provide some tips and a better idea for this thing and how it works, not give out answers. anyways, i ended up getting a job offered to me right there as a cashier. i was totally happy and accepted it. they then told me they would get a background check for me (which im totally not worried about cause im a good kid) and then call me for my orientation.
