I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Toys "R" Us (San Diego, CA) in Sep 2010
Interview
The interview at Toys "R" Us was just like others describe. It was a group interview then led to a 1:1 with the store manager. We each introduced ourselves and then had to pick a toy from the store to show our customer service skills by giving details about the product we chose. The manager was called to see us present our toy. When we were done , then they made a cut were some people will do the one on one and some will leave. I was one of the chosen people and had the one on one.
The interview was straight forward, they would ask you how you would handle certain situations, employee dilemma and understanding store policy. The HR manager was really weird and hard to understand. It seemed like she wanted to hurry up the interview so she can leave. That part was one of the most upsetting part of the interview, she answered personal phone calls, kept being interrupted and was speaking her native language to another employee during me responding to an interview question. After that was done she said when the background check is cleared they will give us a call back.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
Tell me a time when you had a difficult situation and how did you handle it?
Super nice and friendly interviewer. They told me about the company and the position and asked a few questions. They also let me ask some questions at the end as well
Geoffrey was attentive and kind. Guided me through the whole catalog. Would recommend him all the time, every time to whomever will listen. He took the time to explain the great deals.
I applied in-person. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at Toys "R" Us (London, England)
Interview
Standard interview with competency questions, especially communication skills, and gauging if candidate would be a good fit for the company culture. After the interview received a call within 2 weeks.
