I had a screening when I dropped off my resume in person, was called back for an interview, and then a final interview. Very friendly, like having a conversation with a friend, really wanted to know you. They are very interested in how you view good customer service and if you can work well with a team.

I applied in-person. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Trader Joe's (Walnut Creek, CA)
Interview
The Captain and another manager (Mate) takes you outside or somewhere to talk and is fairly laid back. They asked me why I wanted to work for Trader Joe's and what it is that I think of when I think of the company itself. They gave me a few different scenarios and asked what I would do in each. They asked me about myself, as well.
I applied in-person. I interviewed at Trader Joe's (Chicago, IL) in Aug 2019
Interview
I applied at a new store so got an interview right away (they usually do these on the spot if you drop off an application) and was told to bring a portfolio of my work. They asked me some basic questions about myself like why I wanted to work there, my work history, and my favorite TJ's product/if I shop there. They basically ask you a bunch of Q's to see how well you can hold a conversation. Vibe check to see how you'll handle chatting people up at the register so just be yourself and let that personality sparkle. For sign artists- they really see if you've got neat handwriting/lettering skills and ask you to copy a price tag on the spot.
