I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Trafigura (Geneva) in Mar 2022
Interview
Initially, I applied through the official website of Trafigura where I had to answer a question, providing solutions.
About a month later, I received a phone call from an HR employee where they asked me some questions regarding my knowledge towards the Group and a couple of questions regarding my current (at the time) job. After passing successfully the "test", we rescheduled a second interviews 10 days later where I had been interviewed by 2 mid-level employees from the local office and 2 mid-level ones from the Geneva office.
The interview consisted mainly of questions about my job and personality and had a few technical questions regarding risk management and transportation risks for the cargo and the company.
A day later I got informed that I proceeded into the last stage of the process where I had to present a 5-6 page slide regarding a commodity of my preference along with risks and risk management according to a latest piece of news.
I had to present my work in 4 people (Senior Managers and Traders) from the Geneva office and answer to their questions as well as a few technical questions.
Generally I did very well and I got an offer which I happily accepted.
Everyone was very polite and helped me to answer everything without stress.

Question 1
Which are the risks involved from transporting a cargo from Nigeria?
The first-round interview went well overall. It was a 30-minute call with HR and focused mainly on technical and industry-related questions rather than my CV. I was asked about how Trafigura makes money, the risks of transporting crude oil, and some logic-based questions. The interviewer was professional but kept the camera off, which made the conversation a bit less personal. I managed to answer most questions confidently and kept my answers structured and concise. Overall, it was a good experience and a valuable insight into Trafigura’s expectations.
