After doing the application online, within a few days a lady from Singapore called me to ask a few simple questions on derivatives and why Trafigura. Then she set up the interview, and told me to look up this book called Oil 101 for the interview I'm living in Durban so they flew me up to their offices in Johannesburg where it was a 2 stage interview process. The first one was a face to face with 2 French members of their company, and the second one was with 2 members from their Geneva branch via video conference. But from what I heard with other people having their interviews on that day and the previous days, this 2 stage process stayed the same, but some had both their interviews being separate face to face, or both being separate video conferences. The first stage was intended more to know how much you understand of the company and its competitors and what's Trafigura's advantage over their competitors. It was a slightly intimidating interview since they never seems to give me any indication if my answers were right or wrong, and just continue to talk. Ultimately though majority of my questions were unfortunately based on their Metals and Minerals division of the company, even though they knew I applied for their Oils and Derivatives section. My questions were all ultimately linked around Supply Chain management knowledge, which I have basic knowledge on as I am a Business Finance and Economics major, The book wasn't important for a single thing in both stages The second stage was much more pleasant. The video interviewers were asking personal questions mostly (Who I am, what is my strengths etc). Giving me scenarios and asking how I would feel and react. It was much nicer and calmer and easy to do well in.
