The general interview process went fine, it was the usual discussion about the job and previous job experience. However, as I applied to a German speaking position, there was also a language check part, which was unbelievably ridiculous. Firstly, the person who did the language check part was late from the interview. The man was a native German speaker, and after a few minutes of talking, he stopped me to say that my German was nowhere near "as good as his". Obviously, as it is my third language and I am not a native speaker. However, I speak German on a C1 level, and I am pretty confident in my speaking abilities, as I've already had interviews in German before without any problems. The cherry on top was when he asked me to explain the double meaning of a word, which was an old German word. Had nothing to do with the language knowledge you need for the job, and after the interview, I asked a native speaker friend of mine if they knew what the word means and they told me they've never heard of it before. Overall, the language check had nothing to do with the vocabulary you need for this job, and this man was the most egoistical and condescending recruiter I've ever had the luck to meet. Also if you want native speakers for the job, don't write C1 level German in the advertisement.
