I applied through college or university. I interviewed at Transamerica (Houston, TX) in Apr 2013
Interview
I came into contact with one of their agents at a university career event. I followed up with him, in which he called me within a week to attend a meeting at 7 P.M. This was the first red flag. I showed up and it automatically felt creepy, house, pop music playing, about 25-30 people just like me standing around. So, they started by tooting their own horn and quickly separated the groups in different groups for a presentation.
The presentation was on annuities and how that works. They did a great job attempting to frame this as an employee training session but you could also tell it was a promotion for their business. Wonderful, a bundle package!
After the presentation, I had a separated meeting with the agent and his boss regarding how they will invest in their employees regarding licenses, training, ect. They attempted to quickly divert the question to my availability of working at least 15 hours a week. I asked about their business model and how it sounded like a pyramid. They attempted to draw a model and the board and how it made so much sense...blablabla - I then stated that you just described a pyramid...
Watch out for these conglomerate firms that are desperate for market share, you will encounter this.... be direct with them over the phone before showing up and wasting your time. I declined any further contact with them.

Question 1
They did not want to ask questions and did not like being questioned as well..
Someone reached out to me on LinkedIn and we set up an interview with no application process. One of these commission-based, no-experience-required things. That guy and his mentor talked to me for an hour with a whole presentation, and it ended with an offer to become one of their clients if not an advisor.
Very calm, and easy. They just want to get to know you at first. It isn’t as much as an interview as it is a conversation to see if that want to take the next step

Question 1
Tell me about your background and why you chose to apply to Transamerica
Get an insight of the business, learn about the structure, and compensation potential. It may be for some people but I’m still deciding if it’s for me. It was very reminiscent to a mlm structure so that kind of made me second guess if it was something I wanted to do but it may be for someone.
