Had an initial phone call with the recruiter that lasted 10 minutes, only because I asked a few questions. At the end of the call, the recruiter sounded like they were tired of answering them. The call just covered my interest in the role and confirming the salary expectations that were asked for when I submitted my resume. I was told that my info would be submitted to the Talent Attraction Director and then next steps would be set up. The next day, I received an email that the role was filled. That's fine - I know this happens. However, after citing "communicating with candidates" as a recent improvement that Trimble implemented to improve candidate experience, I find it disappointing that the recruiter couldn't give the courtesy of letting me know that there were others so much further ahead in the process and set realistic expectations about what the timeline would be. A simple email could've been sent before the call to let me know that an offer had already been extended or was about to be extended, and confirm if I'd still be interested in continuing to interview.
