Senior technical recruiter here reached out to a former periphery recruiting colleague at Truepill as I was interested in any tech recruiting positions I would be good for.
I was excited to get an invitation for an interview with a recruiter on the team. Being I have almost 8 years technical recruiting experience and the recruiter I was speaking to has less than 3 years, I expected it to be a screen. The call went well until she revealed I was being considered for a role reporting to her. I politely let her know that didn’t make sense given my seniority in addition to my military experience in a technical leadership role, but the call quickly ended after that.
That recruiter never accepted my LinkedIn request. I later looked at the job posting they wanted me for and it says 1-2 years experience. I relayed the feedback on LinkedIn that the leveling didn’t make sense to my former colleague and she blocked me.
It’s a shame that any recruiting team that considers themselves worth their weight is looking at a senior recruiting professional with a military background and Ivy League degree and dismissing him for not wanting to pursue a junior level position.
