A comedy of errors, to say the least.
I contacted Turbonomic through Indeed on January 16, and was contacted fairly quickly for an interview with a recruiter. The interview was scheduled for Friday, January 22. I got onto the Zoom session at the appointed time, and the interviewer never showed up. After waiting 15 minutes, I emailed the interviewer, who profusely apologized and said they were stuck in a meeting. We rescheduled a call for Tuesday, January 26.
When we set up the second call, I asked the interviewer to send me the Zoom session number and password, since I use the app and not the web interface. The interviewer sent this information to me. This is material, which I'll explain in a minute.
Once again, I was at the Zoom session on time yet again, and the interviewer didn't show again. 15 minutes after the call, I received an email from the recruiter asking me if I was still interested. I was like, WHAT? I'm there. So I checked the original invite again, and sure enough, the interviewer sent me the WRONG Zoom session and password. Fortunately, I then clicked on the link, my Zoom app opened, and I entered the session. The interviewer realized they screwed up, and this wasn't my fault. The interview took place, and it was actually quite nice. I had positive feedback from the interviewer, and a couple of hours later I was scheduled for the next interview with the hiring manager. That was very positive, but the next part sure wasn't.
The next interview was set up for Monday, February 1. On Friday, January 29, I received a form letter from Turbonomic HR that I was no longer a candidate. Naturally, I was puzzled and wondered if this was in error. I contacted the last interviewer to explain the email.
A couple of hours later, I got a short response from the last interviewer. The response was somewhat cryptic, but it basically said that the sales team said that they were looking for someone who was more junior for the role, and they weren't interested. Say what?
I am glad that someone actually had the guts to respond and give me real feedback. That's about the only good thing to say. I committed time to these people, and was blown off after I was well into the process. I'm not going to pursue it, but you can attribute such a decision to either job discrimination, or just poor management/communications inside Turbonomic. This tells me all I need to know about working there.
This was probably a blessing in disguise. But the most valuable commodity is time, and I spent way too much of it only to be shut down by a shady justification.
