There was a screening call with the recruiter, an interview with the hiring manager, a creative exercise, and panel interviews including a presentation of the creative exercise. I was rejected after submitting the creative exercise with a generic message citing other applicants with backgrounds more aligned with the role. Normally I thought that would have been detected during the resume review or the first two rounds of interviews, not after spending hours of my personal time on the creative exercise.
