I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Twitch (London, England) in Mar 2021
Interview
Written application, followed by a phone interview that lasted an hour, based on my CV. Interviewer sounded distracted the whole time. Apparently i need to write at least 30 words here.
I applied through an employee referral. The process took 3 months. I interviewed at Twitch in Feb 2021
Interview
Although I did not reach interview I am writing this as I want to express how upsetting this process was. I was working in this role at another Amazon subsidiary on a fixed term contract that was coming to an end and was invited to apply to this role. Recommendations were sent by my manager and their manager and I was told to expect a screening call shortly.
On the day of the call nobody got in touch. I chased this call and got no response, then I chased it four more times. Still no response.
A month later I received an email saying the role had been filled. This is possibly the worst hiring process I have ever been through and I would not consider applying again in future.
Throughout this time of uncertainty I was extremely stressed as the sole provider for my wife and child. The lack of communication really exacerbated this.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
When are you available for a call about this role?
First they send you a form to answer. Then I had the first interview, which was rather a language assessment, it was a talk of about 30 minutes.
The last round was 3 interviews in a row with team members in a 1:1 manner. 45 minutes with one, five or ten minutes of rest and then the other and so on. It was three hours of interview. At the end I was already very tired and I ran out of energy.
In addition to this, the interviewer had the camera high above her head, therefore when I spoke I saw her forehead and she looked at the screen. I had a hard time concentrating because I felt like she wasn't paying attention to me. It is not easy to have an interview with someone who is looking the other way.
They had told me that a week later I would have the team's decision. They also gave me a contact to ask about the status of the process. After 8 business days without any type of feedback, I sent a follow up email.
After 4 days, I received the typical email "we have decided to progress with other candidates, etc ..." and that they "could not give me feedback". I think that after an interview of 3 hours, minimum, I deserve a proper feedback. I find what they did really unprofessional.
