Sorry to hear that your experience was negative, and I will discuss with our University team the turn around time on the feedback. It certainly shouldn't have taken that long. That being said - I would love a chance to discuss your feedback further with you. I think there must be some misunderstanding. We would never reject someone strictly based on a "side passion" or "side project". Perhaps if you're only familiar or strong with functional programming, I can see how it wouldn't be a fit for us. But if you did indeed perform strongly on your coding relative to other candidates, we would have moved forward to an onsite interview.
