I got referred by someone who used to work in the lab and there was no interview. Interviewer was very nice, and there was no pressure even though I did not have any lab experience.
One interview and the interviewer let me know that I had the job almost immediately. Questions were typical behavior questions and there were no chemistry questions. Interviewer wanted to know that I could be trained and would follow direction.
I applied online. The process took 5 days. I interviewed at UC Davis (Davis, CA) in Feb 2010
Interview
Applied online and was contacted by email for an interview by the administrative assistant. I called back and scheduled an in person interview for the following week. I was interviewed by the two PIs of the laboratory as well as the administrative assistant. Everyone was very friendly. I was asked basic questions including tell me about yourself and questions regarding the responsibilities of the position. The interview was followed by a tour of the laboratory by the PIs and I met some of the postdocs on the tour.
