I applied online. I interviewed at UFP Industries (Chicopee, MA) in Sep 2024
Interview
First I would like to start by saying the interview process starting with the recruiter through engaging with the interviewers (2) were professional. Everything after that went downhill. I applied for a position I was over qualified for because I wanted to get into a reputable company with the intention of growing within the company. It started with the recruiter reaching out to me being impressed with my experience. I was extremely transparent what my minimum salary would be and it was within the budget he expressed with me. In fact, we went from interview 1 to 3 skipping step 2. I also went into the interview process being very transparent that I had 2 other offers on the table. In the meantime, I lost one of the offers as they were not willing to wait for me to finish my interview process. I received an offer from UFP in writing stating that my skills, qualifications and experience stood out and sent over an offer with a demand to sign within 2 days. It was lower than expected so I responded with a negotiation offer that was still within their budget. The salary was what I stated from the very first call when the recruiter reached out to me. I called the recruiter and asked him what I should do about signing an offer when I was negotiating. He told me NOT TO SIGN so I did not. I called him the next day for an update and I was told he has not heard anything yet. I called again the next day as I thought it was very rude that no one was staying in touch with me when they knew I had an other offer waiting for me to decide. After calling a third time 2 days later I was told that they did not accept my counter offer. Keep in mind, the counter offer was still within their budget for this position and I was extremely transparent from day one what my lowest salary would be. Finally after talking with the recruiter I was informed that UFP rescinded their offer because I did not sign the original offer. How unprofessional is that?? Why would I sign an offer I was negotiating? They wasted my time and I lost both of the other 2 offers all while dealing with a company that couldn't be honest with me from day one. So what I would recommend to anyone applying with this company. Learn from my mistake. Do not trust the recruiter when he tells you not to sign an offer letter. Do not negotiate because they will rescind the offer.
I was very disappointed how the entire interview process progressed and hope this will help the next person who is interested in applying for a position with this company.
