I applied online. The process took 3 months. I interviewed at UNC Chapel Hill (Chapel Hill, NC) in Jan 2018
Interview
The hiring process took around 3 months from submitting my application in mid-October to the final decision being made at the end of January. The first interview was a phone interview with 2 people from the office. Basic questions were asked about my qualifications. Nearly 3 weeks later I was e-mailed and asked to come in for an in person interview. I had 5 interviews that day ranging from 30 minutes to an hour. Again, typical interview questions were asked. It was implied at this interview that a hiring decision would be made within the next week. Two weeks later I received an e-mail stating the committee had decided to bring back the candidates for a final round of interviews that were meant to determine whether the person would fit into the culture of the office. This was a one-on-one interview that lasted approximately two hours. I received an e-mail 3 weeks later from HR informing me I was not chosen. Overall the interview process was handled incredibly poorly by the head of the hiring committee. Interviews were scheduled days before and were rescheduled on two occasions. Additionally, I frequently had my e-mail correspondence ignored and never received any type of communication from the head of the hiring committee once a decision had been reached. Incredibly unprofessional people on the hiring committee and overall a poor representation of UNC.
