I applied online. The process took 5 days. I interviewed at UNC Chapel Hill (Chapel Hill, NC) in Sep 2019
Interview
I was called and screened directly by the hiring manager, and then scheduled for a video interview. During the video interview, I spoke with the hiring manager and one of my colleagues who is sort of a jr manager. Afterwards, I was told that it would be a few weeks before I heard anything, but then was called 2 days later to schedule an in-person interview. During the in-person interview, I met with the department manager, as well as 2 chairs for the department. After the interview, I was again told it would be several weeks before I heard because the university tended to move slowly, but I got called 1 or 2 days later by the department manager who informally offered me the position, but told me to wait for my offer letter to be received via email.
