The company calls for one person at a time for interview and the selection is based on potential of the candidate on absolute basis. The company is very flexible while choosing the dates for interview. I was first interviewed by HR and Deputy General Manager SCM. The interview started with usual question Tell Me About Yourself. Then there were various questions about my current profile. The interviewing panel asked most of the questions based on my CV and they were satisfied with my CV. There were very few technical questions which were not related to my current profile. Ultimately I was asked about the salary expectations. Observing that they were happy with my interview I asked for 44% hike over current salary. There was no discussion over the salary, but they asked me to wait near reception for 5 min. After 5 min I was told by HR to attend next interview in a next week. I did not attend next interview as I was expecting this to be team leader position which it was not. More over the profile to be almost same to what I was doing in my current job.
Overall I observed that people UPL to be very friendly. It should not be difficult to gel with the work culture as a result. However as far as supply chain is concerned it appeared that the company is in process of building supply chain organization and in case a candidate is expecting to work on advanced supply chain concepts, one should restrain himself from joining at least till 2013.
