      Mobile Developer Interview

      Jun 1, 2022
      Anonymous Interview Candidate
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at USAA in May 2022

      Interview

A recruiter reached out about opportunities for both iOS and Android. They swept me in with a seemingly fast interview process of a technical screening followed by a video call. The results of the technical screen were used to rank candidates, “junior, mid, senior, etc.” The screening itself consisted of someone from a recruiting agency reading random trivia questions off about mobile app development. At no point was I asked to solve a problem with software (the fundamental thing software engineers do). Needless to say, this interview process was insulting as you can’t trivialize years of experience to a skewed set of trivia questions. Someone that’s perfectly capable of navigating their way around mobile app development can be miscast just because a trivia question was asked about something they just happened to have not worked with before. On the bright side though, if you’ve just finished a course in mobile app development, these guys might be the perfect ticket to scam your way to the top right off the bat.

      Interview

Decent half day to one day interview process, Quiz and social discussions, Agile Discussions, Group interview with various applicants in two different block and then split into separate technical interview with actual manager and team.
