I applied through a staffing agency. It took 2-3 weeks. First had a phone screening interview for 30 minutes. Basic Java questions were asked, Then a week later was called for face to face interview.
The process lasted for 4-5 hours. There were more than 10 interview candidates and were grouped and had to go through various behavioral exercises while the managers and hiring team will observe how you are working in a team and your critical thinking. This was followed by technical hands-on interview. This part involved code review, testing and debugging skills.

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at USAA (San Antonio, TX) in Feb 2017
Interview
Phone interview and tech screen with multiple tech people and managers. Then on-site behavioral and technical interview with multiple tech and managers.. They also had me do a debugging session with code I was completely unfamiliar with. This is somewhat unfair I think. I also haven't heard back from them one way or another. It was very generous for USAA to invite me to their headquarters and for paying for the flight and hotel.
