I applied through an employee referral. I interviewed at Uber (San Francisco, CA) in Jul 2015
Interview
Phone screen then onsite. Depending on role you may need to submit code. You meet with various folks and from different teams. I actually enjoyed the process since they asked questions that I felt really helped them get a feel for who I was and why I wanted to work there.

Question 1
I liked the questions they asked. They don't ask questions like "what is your biggest strength or what is your weakest trait". They ask situational questions which become conversations about how you work.
I applied in-person. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at Uber (Hyderābād) in Jul 2024
Interview
I got a call directly from Uber HR and she took the initial details. She said I have to move to Bangalore for this job which I denied. I said I was only interested if they allowed me to continue from Hyderabad. She said she would check with the management and let me know. She called me again after 2 days saying management is ok for letting me work from Hyderabad. Then she scheduled a meeting with the Manager (whom I will be reporting to). I had an interview with a lady (Indian) from the US. Before starting the interview, she clarified that she doesn't have any idea on Directory Services but she will be asking a few technical questions. The question was easy and it was a very good interview. In the end, she told me that I have to move to Bangalore for this position. I said that I already informed the HR that I can't relocate to Bangalore and your HR agreed on that. She denied and said this job requires me to be in Bangalore as all of her team members are in Bangalore only. She said she would talk to the HR. After the interview, I sent a mail to HR and asked for clarification. After multiple follow-ups, HR called me again and informed me that I have not been selected for the job. I was ok and asked the reason for the rejection. Whether it's due to technical evaluation or due to the location restrictions? I was surprised when she said location is not the issue but the manager didn't find me technically good. The interview was very good and as she said at the start of the interview she did not have any idea on this topic, was right as she only asked very basic scenario-based questions and I answered correctly. I don't see any reason to be rejected due to the technical discussion. Even at the end of that interview, she asked me whether I could move to Bangalore or not. I am sure it was due to the location issue but I am very disappointed that HR blamed my technical skills without any reason. She could have told me clearly. Overall, it wasn't a pleasant experience at all.
