It seems that my call with the recruiter, Ayesha Begum, was essentially the first interview. From my decade of experience, the initial call or meeting with an internal recruiter, often referred to as a screening interview, is intended to confirm the candidate's basic details, evaluate if they meet the job's minimum qualifications, and assess their interest in the role. The recruiter typically inquires about the candidate's work experience, skills, availability, salary expectations, and motivation for applying. For the first time in my career, I didn't pass the screening call, which was essentially an interview. Additionally, the communication from Ayesha was dismal. The "interview" occurred on a Monday, and she advised that she would update me by Friday on whether I advanced to the next round. However, after I had to reach out twice, she finally informed me 19 days later that I didn't make it to the next round with the hiring manager. When I asked for feedback regarding why I was not selected, I received no response. I've interviewed with Uber before and, although I never secured the role, the interviews were always engaging, professional, and enjoyable. Unfortunately, that was not the case this time.
