A few months ago a recruiter reached out to me about an opening at Ubiquiti. I've been a fan of Ubiquiti for a long time because I love their technology, so I went ahead and interviewed with them for a senior QA position. Their office in Portland is ULTRA startup mode, and the two guys who interviewed me did so while eating burritos. I got along fine with them and apparently impressed them because they said I was their #1 choice and that they needed to talk to the CEO to get all of the offer paperwork ready and approved.
After an entire week of waiting and emailing back and forth I finally got told that I'm still their #1 candidate but they had to interview one last-minute internal referral before they made a decision. I guess that's fair enough, but still pretty annoying and there were numerous red flags by now.
A week went by with the same boring emailing back and forth and they finally responded to my emails and said that I had the job and they had to talk to the CEO to get the salary approved. At this point I was PRETTY ALARMED that the salary range hadn't been approved before the interview process even started! Red flags. Everywhere! At this point I didn't want the job even if they did offer it to me, because frankly they seemed very disorganized.
That's the end of the story. They never got back to me, but I also didn't try too hard to bug them about the job because I wasn't really interested anymore at that point.
