I applied through an employee referral. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Ubisoft (Montreal, QC) in Feb 2024
Interview
One of the strangest companies I've interviewed at to say the least. I was referred to the recruiter directly via an employee and old colleague, the recruiter asked for a CV and they asked to schedule a phone interview soon after.
This is when things start going very wrong - at the phone screen the recruiter immediately opened with "Well I see that you're currently working at X company, we are aware of their salary ranges and we won't be able to match that, not even close. We also do not have benefits as extensive as theirs and our bonus structure won't be as good." I was a bit shocked by this immediate negativity and responded by saying salary and benefits aren't everything and I'm looking for a new challenge as well as growth opportunities. The call then proceeded and they basically just went down my resume point by point and asked really surface level questions like confirming the years I have held my previous positions. The recruiter then explained that role will be a people's manager position and asked if I have experience managing people but nowhere did the job description state that.
After all that, the recruiter said it didn't seem like I meet the basic requirements and that I won't be moving on.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
How many years of product management experience do you have?
